The long tradition of the Higher School of Education (ESEV) in initial, complementary, and specialized teacher training, combined with the new challenge posed by the Bologna Process and the professional qualification regime for teaching, allows us to leverage ESEV’s experience in conjunction with education policies, within a training paradigm that aims to enable teachers to carry out their professional activity autonomously, socially, and ethically.
Objetives
The course aims to provide professional qualifications for teaching in all areas of Preschool Education and the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, covering the following training objectives:
– To promote general educational training, covering the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies in the field of education relevant to the performance of a Preschool Educator and 1st Cycle Basic Education Teacher;
– To develop personal and professional skills appropriate to the different aspects of the role of Early Childhood Educator and Primary School Teacher;
– To mobilize knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies in the specific teaching methods related to all areas of the preschool and primary school curriculum for the exercise of the profession;
– Develop reflective attitudes towards the major problems of the contemporary world, educational policy, and the role of schools in society;
– Extend cultural, social, and ethical training to areas of knowledge and culture other than those related to teaching qualifications;
– Encourage reflection on the ethical and civic dimensions of teaching professionalism in order to adapt educational intervention;
– Foster the capacity for intervention in action, research, innovation, and scientific and pedagogical experimentation projects;
– Develop skills that enable autonomous lifelong learning.
Career Opportunities
The master’s degree in Preschool Education and Primary School Teaching qualifies graduates to teach in all areas of preschool education and primary school education.
