Psychosocial Intervention with Older People
Presentation
The Postgraduate Course in Psychosocial Intervention with Older People is based on four fundamental assumptions: (i) the aging of the Portuguese population; (ii) the lack of diverse and well-founded responses to support older people’s well-being; (iii ) the need for higher and specialized training of intervention technicians in this area; (iv) the limited offer of national and regional/local training, specific for psychosocial intervention with older people.
Thus, this course aims at training technicians who develop skills in order to achieve the following objectives:
- Design, develop and evaluate projects and specific methodologies for intervention in aging;
- Develop a learning culture directed towards the promoting of older people’s health, well-being and quality of life at personal, family, community and institutional levels;
- Promote networking and multidisciplinary team work based on quality policies and the humanization of services;
- Develop skills that enable psychosocial intervention based on the promotion of positive, active, healthy and successful aging.
