Presentation
The Higher Professional Technician (CTeSP) course in Childcare Support is part of a new type of short-term higher education, corresponding to a professional educational programme at level 5 of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning. It is expected to achieve two important objectives: i) to promote the rapid integration of graduates into the labour market; ii) to enable them to continue their studies, maintaining a direct link to the first cycle of higher education (bachelor’s degree).
The course aims to train technicians who will take on, either independently or as part of interdisciplinary teams, roles involving the guidance, support and supervision of children, leading to the enhancement of human development, the promotion of personal and social development and the acquisition and development of skills, either individually or as part of a group.
– Conduct diagnostic and ongoing assessments of children’s cognitive, socio-emotional and psychomotor development needs, involving the various educational agents responsible for children’s education, promoting communication and information sharing;
Plan educational, recreational, extracurricular and leisure activities specifically geared towards children’s personal and social development;
– Promote, assess and supervise the impact of interpersonal interactions and relationships established between members of the institution, families and children, within the scope of individual and collective life projects;
– Carry out, based on prior planning, formal and informal educational activities in schools, kindergartens, nurseries, private social solidarity institutions and other school and family support structures;
– Build and allocate material, physical, logistical and organisational resources to support the provision of daily care for children, responding to their individual needs for sleep, food, personal hygiene and health promotion, sociability and interaction with their environment;
– Plan, implement and evaluate plans to improve the educational activities of the institution to which they are formally and professionally attached, respecting the functional hierarchy.
