History and Geography of Portugal (5th and 6th grades)

The master’s degree course in Primary Education and Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal in Secondary Education lasts four academic semesters. The course is aimed at holders of a degree in Basic Education and qualifies them to teach Primary Education and Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal in Secondary Education.
Objetives
The fundamental objectives of the course are:
– To provide professional qualification for teaching in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education and Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal in the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education;
– To promote the development of professionals capable of adapting to the characteristics and challenges faced by schools and teachers;
– To encourage the mobilisation of knowledge, skills and competences obtained in previous and current training experiences in the development, in a real context, of innovative and interventionist professional practices appropriate to specific situations in the classroom, school, school group and its relationship with the community;
– To foster the development of education professionals qualified to perform teaching duties associated with the capacity for educational intervention, research, reflective analysis and lifelong learning.
